The 4th German Gymnastics and Sports Festival in Leipzig's Central Stadium became a celebration of the propaganda of the communist system. Thousands of uniformed extras made up the ranks of those who adhere to the symbols and sayings of the communist system. The presentations of the athletes were like an additional afterthought for the event.
