New York City's Mayor John V. Lindsay and his wife, Mary, share a relaxed moment on East 87th Street near a school at which they voted for someone else for mayor. Lindsay, 52, has had the responsibility of running the city for eight years. He is to be succeeded by Controller Abraham D. Beame, 67, who was elected in what local newspapers termed a "landslide victory."
