Bishop Ireneus Dud (left), Apostolic Vicar of Wau, uses a tape recorder to capture authentic folk songs as performed by local Sudanese at a mission. A native of the Sudan, Monsignor Dud returned to the Sudan from the Ecumenical Council in Rome when heard of the expulsions. Recent reports that he had been beheaded have since proved to be false. He is still resisting the efforts of the Sudanese government to drive Christianity from the Southern region of his homeland.
