Scene of city's 109th traffic fatality. New Orleans traffic toll is boosted to 109. An unidentified woman was killed early today and a male companion was injured seriously when her car struck a post and crashed into an abutment to the Chef Menetur bridge on US Highway 90. Late yesterday Francis Green, 27, 2323 S. Roman, died in Charity hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident December 1. These two deaths bring the city's traffic fatality toll to 109 for the year the highest in the modern history of New Orleans. The previous record was set in 1968. The record is modern because there was no accurate count made in the 1920s and 30s on traffic fatalities.
