1963 Press Photo Mrs. James Coleman and others unveil welcoming sign

Mrs. James Coleman and others unveil welcoming sign at the New Orleans International Airport boosting the Crescent City as the birthplace of Jazz and an industrial center of the South. Looking on are Maumus Claverie, left, representing industry and Harry V. Souchon, President of the New Orleans Jazz Club. Mrs. Coleman represented the Chamber of Commerce of the New Orleans area, sponsors of the greeting. Also taking part in the ceremonies were members of "The Last Straws," a jazz band. The sign was placed on location in the baggage area so most of the 10,000 daily visitors will take notice that New Orleans is both a cultural and industrial center.
