1968 Press Photo Cooks learn commercial cooking at Delgado College - noa85785

Virginia Clayborne, Edward Murray, Audrey Bryant and Christine Cephus learn commercial cooking methods at cafeteria of Delgado College. Kitchen, part of building dedicated last fall, offers facilities to match most commercial operations. They're roasting two birds on one spit in the big, beautiful new cafeteria at Delgado College: They're training sorely needed cooks for New Orleans restaurants and hotels and by doing so they're preparing 20 previously unemployed men and women to fill full-time jobs. The Manpower Development and Training Program for Cooks and Bakers defies the old adage about too many cooks spoiling the broth. A veritable alphabet soup of agencies-LDES, MDTA, CEP and TCA, and the state department of education-have been involved in what looks like a highly successful program.
