1977 Press Photo Interior of Greater New Orleans Bridge's toll booth shows dirt

Greater New Orleans Bridge toll booths: Booth's interior shows dirt - Everyone sees the nine little offices, but no one uses them. Nevertheless, they have been kept clean for 13 years, just in case. The offices are the row of toll booths at the West Bank end of the Greater New Orleans Bridge. Since May, 1964, when Governor John J. McKeithen honored a campaign pledge to make the bridge toll-free, the booths have been nothing more than something for motorists to drive between as the approach or leave the span.

Photo is dated 1977.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
