Miss Gail Dugal, Louisiana Yam Queen, shown here with Jack Owens, popular ABC star of radio and television invited the "cruising crooner" to be her guest at the 1953 Yambile, the annual harvest festival of the Louisiana Sweet Potato industry held each autumn in Opelousas. The lovely queen of yams, who is a sophomore at Southwestern Louisiana Institute, was a guest star on Owen's ABC coast to coast radio broadcast in Hollywood recently and later appeared on his network television show, She has just returned from the movie capital where she was Louisiana "Yambassadress" at the annual convention of the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association.
