Crossman School; Larry Guerin, who accepted for Lykes Brothers Steamship Company, Inc.; Daniel Merdes, Tulane University student, for his essay written when a student at F. T. Nicholis Senior High School; (back row) Floyd E. Gautreaux, Lafayette, for his letter-to-the-editor; Paul Hoerske, professor of Nicholls High School, who accepted award for an editorial in school journal, and Eldon Pletcher, cartoonist of The Times-Picayune, who accepted an award for a cartoon appearing in the newspaper.
