Italian Foreign Minister Amintore Fanfani, presiding at current session of U.N. General Assembly, bangs down gavel to start the General Assembly session in New York today. A peace bid from North Viet Nam was contained in a letter dated November 20 to President Johnson from Fanfani. In the letter Fanfani quoted Ho Chi Minh, North Viet Nam's president, as saying he was "prepared to go anywhere; to meet anyone" to further negotiations.
