Edward M. Gilbert, financier who fled to Brazil, talks with Associated Press newsman Tom Masterson in Rio de Janeiro today. Tax officials in New York said today that Gilbert owes the U.S. Government over three million dollars in back taxes. Gilbert fled to Brazil June 12 after admitting to directors of the E.L. Bruce Company, which he headed, that he had withdrawn nearly two million dollars of the firm's funds without authorization.
