1966 Press Photo Heart transplant performed at Montreal Heart Institute
The heart of a victim of a traffic accident is prepared for transplant by surgeons at the Montreal Heart Institute today. Dr. Pierre Grondin (left) head surgeon, holds a clamp on a major heart artery while assistant snips it off. Bulge on the heart identifies the coronary arteries. Top of the heart is toward the doctor's hands. Heart was received by Gaetan Paris who is reported in good condition.
