Newsmen in Cambridge, MA, inspect the smashed display case in the Harvard University Geological Museum which thieves smashed and escaped with diamonds and other precious stones valued at $50,000, according to police. Dr. Clifford Frondel, curator of the mineralogy section, said the loot has little value to a gem cutter, but the gems had great scientific value, especially an 84-carat uncut yellow diamond.
