Voting for the nomination were Senators Jenner (R-IN), Dirksen (R-IL), Wiley (R-WI), Watkins (R-UT), Butler (R-MD), Daniel (D-TX), Kefauver (D-TN), Hennings (D-MO), O'Mahoney (D-MT), and Kilgore. Against: Eastland (D-MS), Johnston (D-SC), Langer (R-ND) and Welker (R-ID), Senator McClellan (D-AR) voted present.
