The daughter of a carpenter who was out of work, Betty frantically tried to help out the large family of brothers and sisters. She took nine-year-old Monte and 12-year0old Ilene to the famed Brown Derby Restaurant entrance, and there they sang for the ever-present notable.s One of these important people turned out to be Director Sam Wood, who was looking for a little girl to play opposite Fred MacMurray in "Ranger of Fortune." Betty, he decided, was just the girl for the part. She has made good as a result of this role, and now is in "The Roundup," with Richard Dix and Preston Foster. Betty was born in Joplin, Missouri, January 17, 1927. When they discovered they could sing, the Brewer children did radio skits in San Francisco. When the family moved to Hollywood, Monte became a member of the group. Betty is the business head of the family and always is thinking of their welfare. She attended Eagle Pitcher grammar school, Joplin; St. Joseph's Academy, Sacramento, the Hollywood Professional School and now is in the Paramount School, Hollywood.
